In this case, there is no issue whatsoever with the practice of worshiping the Stone because the Stone Worshipers are not actually worshiping the Stone but in an actual sense worshiping God.
I understand this absolutely. I am not crazy. I was a Stone Worshiper before and I am well aware of the meaning behind the action of prostrating to the Kaaba.
However, there are three arguments against the act of worshiping the Stone. One is the order to stop worshiping the Stone while I was praying. That is the most obvious thing that prompted me to stop worshiping the Stone.
Second, intention is nothing, action is everything. This is the next obvious. A person's intention is to do good but his action is stealing. Is he innocent or is he guilty? As you observed with Najib Razak, he is considered a criminal.
Allah said you can do anything except prostrate to Kaaba. That is the only commandment. All you need to do is to OBEY and OBEY 7:7. Why can't you obey? Wh[at] (Why) do you insist on PROSTRATING towards the Kaabah if you are among the obedient? It is the only order for you to be ONE TRIBE.
